～とういことだ： 
This has two meanings-

1. something I heard:
新聞によると、また地下鉄の運賃が値上げされるとういうことだ。
I heard (read!) from the newspaper that subway fares will increase again.

2. it means that ～; as mentioned here ; is that ～
私にとっての根本的な問題は私には経験がないということだ。
My basic problem is that I am inexperienced.

Here are some sentences that I have made using this grammar:

-「ということだ」の文法を使えば使うほど上手くなるということだ。
The grammar 「ということ」 is something that the more you use it, the better you become.

-天気情報によると、梅雨がもうすぐ始まるということだ。
According to the weather report, the rainy season is going to start soon.

-私のメッセージは前の間違いを良く見てべきだということだ。
My message is that you should try and take a good look at past mistakes.

～(という)ものだ：
This pattern has several meanings-

１．show admiration ; grief ; a heart felt feeling
一人で大きな家に住んでいるのは寂しいものだね。
Living alone in a big house is a lonely thing.

２．express something as common sense　Same as 1
事故は起こるものだ。
Accidents will happen.

３．suggest something ; give a light command
そんなことをする前に頼むものだ。
You ought to ask before doing something like that.

４．remember a past happening or occurrence
アメリカに住んでいたとき、日曜日には、いつも友達とランチを食べに行ったものだ。
When I lived in America, I used to go to eat lunch with my friend every Sunday.

Here are some sentences that I have made using this grammar:

-私の授業には、皆の生徒は座る前に先生にあいさつをするものだ。
In my class, all students greet the teacher before sitting down.

-あの漫画は大人向けに書かれたものだね。
That comic was written for adults.

-未来に、小説を書くものだけど、十分力量を持ってるかどうか分からない。
In the future, I would like to write a novel, but I don't know if I have enough ability.

-切符を落としちゃったとき、駅員と話すものだね。
You should talk to the station worker when you lose your ticket.

～ざるを得ない（ざるをえない）： Can't avoid doing X
例文： 行かざるを得ない。
I can't not go. (always double negative) = I must go.

１．この会社で、皆は一所懸命働いているから、君も良く働かざるを得ない。
In this company, everyone works hard. So you, too, must work hard.

２．借金だらけだから、お金を貯めざるを得ない。
I'm covered in debt, so I have no choice but to save money.

３．彼は悪い人だと思わざるを得ない。
I can't help thinking that he is a bad person.

４．部長が反対すれば、我々は計画を変えざるを得ない。
We are subject to change our plans if the section chief disagrees.

５．上司に会いたくないけど、招待を受けざるを得ないでしょうね。
Even though I don't want to meet my boss, I gotta accept the invitation.

きり： Just, for good, once and for all, and that was it

１．彼女の別れ方は変だと思う。さよならイーメールをもらったきりだよ。
I think her way of breaking up is weird. She just sent a goodbye mail and that's it.

２．両親は俺が日本に行ったきりだと思います。
My parents think that I went to Japan and am not coming back.

３．彼は自分の金問題を両親に任せきりだった。
He just left his own money problems to his parents, (and that was that.)

４．前の日本人の会社員は一つの会社に勤めたきりだった。でも今の若者は色々な仕事をする。
Before, Japanese company workers just worked for one company. But young people now work various jobs. 

～抜く（ぬく）： Completely; through and through; to the end

１．最後まで仕事をやり抜いて！
Finish the job thoroughly.

2. その問題について考えぬいても、まだ答えられなかった。
I thought about the problem through and through, but I still couldn't answer.

3. 私のおじいちゃんは第二次世界大戦を生き抜いた。
My grandpa lived through World War 2.
3. 私のおじいちゃんは第二次世界大戦を生き抜いた。

「抜く」は上の使い方以外に他の日常の使い方もありますか？
答えは円から：　

引き抜く 【ひきぬく】 to extract; to uproot; to pull out
１．歯医者は私の虫歯をむりやり引き抜いた。
The dentist pulled out my decayed tooth by force.

追い抜く 【おいぬく】 to pass (a car); to outdistance; to outsail; to outstrip
１．前の車を急いで追い抜いたところだ。
I just sped past the car ahead of me. 

手を抜く 【てをぬく】 to ease up (on an opponent); to cut corners; to be shoddy
１．そういうところで手抜きをしているのだったら、彼は他のどこでも手を抜くだろう。
If he is cutting corners there, he will be cutting corners everywhere else.

むしろ： Rather
* Often used in conjunction with より/よりも/というよりも

１．あの人は紳士というより、むしろ女誑しだよ。
２．俺は外来製品よりも、むしろアメリカの製品を買うつもりです。
３．あの学者は利口というか、むしろ切れ者と言うべきだ。
4. 沖縄へ行くよりむしろもっと寒い地域へ行きたい。

女誑し（おんなたらし）： Womanizer, player
切れ者　（きれもの）： Brilliant person, whiz kid, shrewd person
外来（がいらい）： Foreign, exotic

からといって： Just because…
S1 からといって S2

Usage:
1. When the speaker expects the hearer or someone else to think S2 because of S1, but disagrees with it.
2. When the hearer or someone else does something because of S1, but the speaker disagrees with that action.

*からって in conversation

１．自分の問題じゃないからと言って、助けられないというわけではないよ。
２．雨だからと言って、祭りが中止になると決まったわけではない。
３．日本では、女性だからといって、上司になれないわけではない。
４．お前は力持ちって言われてるからって、これが運べるというわけじゃないよ。
５．彼女を愛してるからと言って、彼女が僕を愛してるわけじゃないよね。

～ものだ：(thing) you know, isn't it.

４．彼はファミコンのみならず、古い物をたくさん持っていますよ。

に過ぎない： X is nothing more than ~; X is nothing but ~

１．事実だと思ったけど、それは悪夢に過ぎなかったよ。
２．今の勉強方法は一つの方法に過ぎないよ。
３．その立場からみると、それは事実じゃなくて、彼の意見に過ぎないね。
４．あの政治家の発言は、多分ウソに過ぎないよね。
５．そこは私立の大学なのに、普通の大学に過ぎない。
